Squeezed-state generation in optical bistability

چکیده
Experiments to generate squeezed states of light are described for a collection of two-level atoms within a highfinesse cavity. The investigation is conducted in a regime for which the weak-field coupling of atoms to the cavity mode produces a splitting in the normal mode structure of the atom-field system that is large compared with the atomic linewidth. Reductions in photocurrent noise of 30% (-1.55 dB) below the noise level set by the vacuum state of the field are observed in a balanced homodyne detector. A degree of squeezing of approximately 50% is inferred for the field state in the absence of propagation and detection losses. The observed spectrum of squeezing extends over a very broad range of frequencies (-4-75 MHz), with the frequency of best squeezing corresponding to an offset from the optical carrier given by the normal mode splitting.

Quantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure
We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...

Much effort in quantum optics has focused on the generation of nonclassical light, predominantly antibunched and quadrature squeezed light. As this became realizable in the lab, it became important to consider the interaction of optical systems with nonclassical light, i.e. shine nonclassical light on optical systems and see how they respond. In the case of quadrature squeezed light driving a s...
متن کاملOptimization of Bistability in Nonlinear Chalcogenide Fiber Bragg Grating for All Optical Switch and Memory Applications
We solve the coupled mode equations governing the chalcogenide nonlinear fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) numerically, and obtain the bistability characteristics. The characteristics of the chalcogenide nonlinear FBGs such as: switching threshold intensity, bistability interval and on-off switching ratio are studied. The effects of FBG length and its third order nonlinear refractive index on FBG cha...

We generate squeezed state of light at 860 nm with a monolithic optical parametric oscillator. The optical parametric oscillator consists of a periodically poled KTiOPO(4) crystal, both ends of which are spherically polished and mirror-coated. We achieve both phase matching and cavity resonance by controlling only the temperature of the crystal. We observe up to -8.0±0.2 dB of squeezing with th...

We analyze a fiber-optic component which could find multiple uses in novel information-processing systems utilizing squeezed states of light.
